Colorado weather can be unpredictable, especially in the mountains! We recommend dressing in layers as it can be sunny and warm one moment and cool with a breeze the next. Evenings can get chilly, so don’t forget a light jacket or sweater.
Will we need a rental car?
A rental car is recommended if you plan on exploring the area or staying outside of town. However, there are plenty of options for ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft, as well as some shuttle services depending on where you’re staying.
What should we pack?
Comfortable shoes are a must if you plan on doing any walking or sightseeing! We also recommend packing layers for the changing weather and sunscreen since the higher altitude means stronger sun. Don’t forget your camera—Colorado is stunning!
Will there be altitude sickness?
Some people may feel the effects of the altitude, like shortness of breath or mild headaches, especially if you’re coming from sea level. To help prevent this, we recommend staying hydrated by drinking at least 2-3 liters of water per day for at least 7 days before your trip. Once you arrive, continue to hydrate, avoid alcohol for the first day, and give yourself time to adjust to the elevation.
Where should we stay?
There are several great options for accommodations in nearby towns like Boulder, Longmont, Broomfield, and Louisville. You’ll find a mix of Airbnbs and local hotels, so whether you prefer a cozy rental or a more traditional hotel stay, there’s something for everyone. We recommend coordinating with family to stay together or close by for the weekend! If you have any questions about a specific location or need recommendations, feel free to reach out to us—we’d be happy to help you find the perfect spot!
